Whether you have an existing Hotspot or need to configure a Hotspot, the AP-6/AP-6PRO can handle the job. This article will cover how to create a Hotspot and how to add your existing Hotspot.

How to create a Hotspot

  • Step 1: Log in to manage.alta.inc
  • Step 2: Select the site
  • Step 3: Choose Local or External
  • Step 4: Add a logo
  • Step 5: Add a title/Terms of Service
  • Step 6: Create a password
  • Step 7: Enter landing page URL

Step 1: Log in to manage.alta.inc

  • Navigate to manage.alta.inc and log in.

Step 2: Select the site

  • Select the site you want to add a Hotspot to by using the drop down menu in the top right corner of your screen.

Step 3: Configure Hotspot

  • Once you have selected the site you want to configure, head over to Settings. Select WiFi and choose the SSID you will be adding the Hotspot to.

  • Click advanced settings and enable the Hotspot feature. You will be given an option to set up a local Hotspot or an external Hotspot. The local option will need to be selected in order utilize the built in Alta Labs portal. The external option can be used to connect the Alta Labs Hotspot to an external Hotspot service. (Hotels, cafes, shops, that already have a Hotspot service)

Step 4: Add a logo

  • Upload your logo or image that you want to be associated with the Hotspot. Supported file types are: JPEG, PNG, and SVG.

Step 5: Add a title/Terms of Service

  • Add a title you want to be displayed to users logging in via Hotspot. For the Terms of Service, you can use the predefined template, modify it, or define your own Terms of Service that users agree to before they are allowed access to the internet. You can also retitle this section all together by the "Edit" icon, next to the Terms of Service.

Step 6: Add a password

  • Enter the password that you want to provide users to join the network via the Hotspot.

Step 7: Add landing page

  • If you want to redirect users to a landing page upon successful login, you can enter the URL in the "Final Landing Page" section.

Hit save and now the Hotspot is running. Now all users that login to the SSID will be presented with the information you have added during setup.

Tips and Tricks: If you are using our Multi-password authentication feature, you can choose a password to provide to users that will bypass the Hotspot. Just select "Bypass Hotspot" by clicking on the purple button next to the password.
