Automatic Firmware Recovery (Power-On-Reset or “POR”)
Generally, a POR won’t be necessary unless instructed by our support team.
Please see this article for the process of recovering firmware.
I Followed The Power-On-Reset Steps but my Switch LED blinks red during that process
This indicates the steps were not successful. The most common reasons are:
- No ethernet link
- Failure to acquire DHCP lease
- Failure to reach Internet
- Failure to obtain time sync
- Failure to download firmware from server
If you believe none of these issues apply, please contact our support team for further assistance.
Set Up Reminder
For your convenience and security, the Alta logo LED on Alta switches will flash red if it is left in a default state for 30 minutes or longer. If your switch is left default, anyone connected to it can manage it which introduces a plethora of security concerns; the severity of which is subjective. For optimal performance, security, and to get the latest updates, we recommend you set up your switch as quickly as possible after connecting it to the internet.
