Over time we have implemented several powerful shortcuts or “easter eggs” that are hidden within the Alta Labs management platform that give our users the ability to speed up workflows, reduce clicks, and provide additional advanced options for devices and Sites. You may notice that you will be using the Shift key quite a bit!

Below is a growing list of all currently available shortcuts.

Remove a Device From a Site (Bypassing Confirmation Prompt)

  1. Go to the Network tab.
  2. Shift + Left-Click the trash icon for the device.

Note: When a device is deleted from a site, it will factory-reset automatically as long as it was fully online before deletion.

Factory Reset a Device

  1. Go to the Network tab.
  2. Click the trash icon for the device you want to remove.
  3. While in the confirmation window, hold Shift and notice that “Yes” becomes “Factory Reset.”

Note: Factory-resetting a device will also remove it from the Site.

Open the BusyBox Terminal for a Device

  1. Go to the Network tab.
  2. Hold Shift and Left-Click the device’s name.

Perform a Full Channel Replan

  1. Go to Settings → System → Advanced.
  2. Locate Auto Channel Replanning.
  3. While holding Shift, “Quick Replan” changes to “Full Replan”.

Note: Full replans will wipe and rebuild the channel planning process across all APs on a Site. In general, Quick and Full replans may take time, so please wait until the process is complete before making additional changes.

Import Firewall Rules Without Replacing the Existing List

  1. Go to Settings → Firewall → Filter.
  2. Looking at the top-right of your screen, holding Shift will turn “Import” into “Additive Import”

Move Firewall Rules to the Top or Bottom of the Rule list Instantly

  1. Go to Settings → Firewall → Filter.
  2. Hold Shift and click the ⮝ or ⮟ arrow on a rule, notice the arrow icons changed into a double-arrow.

Note: Rules at the top of this list will have the highest priority.

Update Firmware on Half of the Devices on a Site

  1. Go to the Network tab.
  2. Click on the ↑ arrow for a device that needs a firmware update.
  3. You will be prompted to perform the update “Right now” or “Tonight”.
  4. While holding Shift, each option will now become “Right now (half)” and “Tonight (half)” respectively.

Note: This queues half of the devices requiring updates, instead going through them one-by-one. Good for large deployments!
