Alta Labs allows you to schedule when a switch port is enabled or disabled. This lets you automatically disable link (and PoE, on ports that support it) during off hours.  Useful for things like powering down POS systems, cutting Wi-Fi AP power on a schedule, or restricting device access to certain hours.

To start, navigate to Settings → Networks → Schedules.

Creating a Schedule

Schedules are created independently of any specific port, SSID, wireless client, or filter.  You build the schedule first, then assign it wherever it's needed.

From the Schedules tab, click Add to create a new schedule. You can also create the schedule by clicking the + icon next to the Schedule setting on a switch port/color.

When creating a schedule, you can configure the following:

• Name - Give the schedule a name. Since schedules can be reused across many different ports, SSIDs, passwords, wireless clients, and filters, it's best to make the name descriptive enough that its purpose is clear at a glance.
• Turn on / Turn off - Choose whether the schedule turns the associated item on or off during the time blocks you define.
• Users can request access during down-time - This toggle only applies to Wi-Fi clients. When enabled, users connecting with an AltaPass password or a voucher can request Wi-Fi access even during a scheduled down-time window, rather than being blocked outright until the schedule turns access back on.
• Defining time blocks in the week - Using your mouse, click and drag across the weekly grid to create the blocks of time the schedule should cover.

When you create a schedule, it is only tied to your account and will not be visible to other users. A schedule only becomes visible to others once it is tied to a Site, at that point, it will appear for other users on that Site when they check the "Only show current site" box.

Assigning a Schedule to Switch Ports

Once a schedule has been created, there are two ways to apply it to switch ports:

• Assign the schedule directly to a specific port - Best when you only need to schedule one or a small number of individual ports.
• Assign the schedule to a Color Group - Best when you want to apply the same schedule across multiple ports at once.

Assigning a Schedule Directly to a Port

Schedules can be assigned directly to individual ports on Alta Labs switches.

Open the switch containing the port you want to modify, select the port, and open its settings.

From the port settings, select the schedule you want that port to use.

Once applied, that individual port will follow the configured schedule.

Assigning a Schedule Using a Color Group

If the same schedule needs to be applied to many ports, you can instead assign the schedule to a Color Group.

You can then assign that Color Group to multiple switch ports. Any ports using that Color Group will inherit the schedule configured for the group.

This makes it much easier to apply or change a schedule across many ports at once, rather than modifying each port individually.

Other Places Schedules Can Be Used

Schedules created under Settings → Networks → Schedules are not limited to switch ports. The same schedules can also be applied to:

• AltaPass passwords and Vouchers - to enable or disable Wi-Fi access during specific windows.
• Clients - to control network access for individual devices.
• Open and Enterprise SSIDs - to enable or disable an entire SSID on a schedule.
• Filters - to control when a Filter Profile is actively enforced (see Content Filtering).

This means a single schedule can be reused across multiple parts of your network configuration, rather than needing to create a separate schedule for each use case.
