AltaPass passwords can be exported or imported as a JSON file. This is an easy way to copy password settings from one SSID to another. Note that this option is only available when using a web browser, and not when using the Alta app.

This only exports/imports password settings, and not other SSID settings.

  1. Sign in to the Alta portal at manage.alta.inc.
  2. Click on the Network tab.
  3. Click on WiFi.
  4. Click on the name of your SSID.
  5. Click on Export or Import underneath the Add Password button.

Important Note

Importing passwords overwrites the current password settings. Currently configured passwords will be lost.

To add passwords to the current configuration without overwriting existing passwords, you can shift click the import button.

Passwords will be exported to a .json file with the name of your SSID. The passwords in the JSON file are stored in plaintext, so the file should be stored in a secure location and deleted when no longer needed.
